IH Easy Chalk Paint - Entry Table - Before + After

Friday, January 26, 2018

I am trying to think of something that is equally easy as painting this entry table ...
It's probably as easy as putting groceries away.  You have a place for everything, and as long as you put the items where they should you stored, you can't really mess them up.
Does that even make sense?

I started out with this table.  It's has so many uses throughout the years. It originally was in our entry way of our old home.  Then when we built and it got set aside. As some point I needed a bookcase for the kids, and it ended up in my sons's room.  Lately, it's been in the attic.  I have thought about selling it a million times, and honestly, I am surprised I didn't.  However, something kept holding me back.  It's not a great piece of furniture, it's actually quite cheap, but it has "good bones," if you will.

You can see that it's a deep brown color, which I have little of in the house.  I knew if I was going to keep it I would have to change the color.  Insert - Chalk Paint.  Little Disclosure before I move one ... I have never, before now, used chalk paint.  I had to go and get insurrections before I got started! :)

You can see here the first coat.  It's super simple to paint too.  I used Annie Sloan Charcoal Paint, which is the closest to black they carry.

Here are the steps that I used:
3 Coats of Annie Sloan Charcoal Chalk Paint
3 coats of Annie Sloan's Black Wax.

I was shocked at just how fast + easy this project was.  It took me just over 4 days, and that includes dry time.  I probably spend 40 mins a night working on each coat.  It doesn't get much easier than that!

The Easiest Recipe Book - A IH Favorite

I have wanted to share this little recipe book with my readers for a while now.  You know when you find something really good, and you think "I want everyone else to enjoy this as much as I do?"
Well this little recipe book is one of those things.  I love that there are EASY and CLEAN eating options, and I equally love the styling of this book too.  It's "shot," if you will, in France, so there are french accents and photographs throughout, which I adore.

You need to pick up your copy of "It's All Easy," by Gweneth Paltrow.
You can find the book here: "It's all Easy"
Right there in the description - 'delicious weekday recipes for the super-busy home.'
Uh - Yeah, did she write this book just for me?!

I promise you that you'll find some really great options for both families and kids.  Which is really all that matters right?!  I mean, if the kids aren't super pumped then the cookbook just sits there and collects dust, right?!  Lucky for you, EVEN if that does happy, which I doubt it will, it's a beautiful book and will look great on your self too!

Try it out, let me know what you're favorite recipes are!
