Planning a last minute New Year's Eve Party?!  Here a few tips from our Sister Co. - The Bridal Solution to help with all the little details!

New Year's Eve :: Party Planning Tips

1.  When setting up, put Food Stations and Drink Stations in opposite corners of the room. This will get your guests moving and walking around the room, great for mingling!

2.  Get your guests involved.  Have Food, Games, and Decor throughout the room.  Interaction is key!  A great idea is to include a photobooth which will allow your guest to take a parting favor as they leave.

3.  Set up and prep the night before.  There is no use running around the day of the party picking up and setting up last minute.  Relax and enjoy the evening instead of being exhausted!

4.  Give yourself at least 15 minutes to yourself before guests arrive.  This will allow you to relax and and enjoy the party to the fullest.

5.  Have a play list of upbeat music ready to play when everyone arrives.  Positive songs only
going into the new year!

Have fun and Happy New Year from Imhoff Homestead!

Imhoff Kitchen :: Baked Potato Soup

Tuesday, December 20, 2016
Ah Winter nights.  The only thing my family seems to get done in the evenings is pulling out all the blankets we own and snuggling in bed or watching something together on tv.  It's been too cold to do anything else.  When weather gets cold, we start craving soups to keep warm.

This simple easy recipe always makes its way into our dinner rotation this time of year.  There is really nothing more simple than homemade, slow-cooker Baked Potato Soup.  There are SO many recipes online, but this one is different, because the potatoes slow cook in milk the entire time, making them super rich and smooth!  Here's our Go-To [SIMPLE AND EASY] ...

Loaded Bake Potato Soup.

Start by peeling russet potatoes, I usually buy a bag of them and peel them all.
Once they are all peeled, cut them into chunks and add them to your slow cooker.
One all the potato chunks are added, pour in milk so that the milk just covers all the potatoes.

Add in Salt, Pepper, Garlic Salt, and Celery Salt.
Cover and cook on High for 4-6 hours.

When the potatoes are covered, I make the bacon in the oven.  350 degrees for 30 minutes works for us, but you can take them out sooner if you like your bacon less crispy.

When the potatoes are ready and soft, use a potato masher and mash them.  Once they are mashed, I add in a bit of bacon, butter, and a handful of cheese.  I usually turn down the slow cooker to low and let the soup settle, thicken, and infuse all the flavors.

After an hour, the potato soup should be ready to eat!  I promise this will not dissapoint!
We of course add some yummy toppings to ours ...
cheddar cheese, remaining bacon, green onions, and a tiny bit of sour cream.

Imhoff Interiors :: Simple Christmas Tablescape :: Christmas 2016

At our house, it's not a Holiday or the turn of a Season until we refresh our Tablescape.  Sometimes they are fancy and elaborate, and other times they are more simple and polished.

Christmas is always our favorite Tablescape, partly because I love my snowflake dinnerware.  They are only used once a year, and every time I pull them out of storage I get excited.  What I love most about them is they go with almost anything.  Here is this years, 2016 Christmas Tablescape.

Most everything placed on this table is from Target bought throughout the years.  New pieces this year are the three trees and table runner[s].

O' Christmas Tree, O' Christmas Tree

There is something so beautiful about a Christmas Tree.  It's my favorite thing about decorating and the Christmas Season.  I love relaxing on the couch, cuddled up with a warm blanket and my Golden and seeing the twinkling lights while warming my feet by the fire.  That is the ultimate.

Tis the Season
